Having a healthy pregnancy is one of the best ways to promote a healthy birth. Getting early and regular prenatal care improves the chances of a healthy pregnancy. This care can begin even before pregnancy with a preconception care visit to a health care provider.

Preconception Care

A preconception care visit can help women take steps for a safe and healthy pregnancy before they get pregnant.

Women can help to promote a healthy pregnancy and birth of a healthy infant by taking the following steps before they become pregnant

  • Develop a plan for their reproductive life.
  • Increase their daily intake of folic acid (one of the B vitamins) to at least 400 micrograms.
  • Make sure their immunizations are up to date.
  • Control diabetes and other medical conditions.
  • Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, and using drugs.
  • Attain a healthy weight.
  • Learn about their family health history and that of their partner.
  • Seek help for depression or anxiety.

Folic acid (Folate):

Folic acid, also known as folate, is well recognized for its value in the prevention of certain birth defects. It may have another important health benefit. A large study showed that women who consumed more folic acid had a significantly reduced risk of developing high blood pressure (hypertension).

Folic acid is one of the B vitamins found in foods such as leafy green vegetables, fruits, dried beans, and peas. A synthetic form of folic acid is used in dietary supplements and fortified foods. Folic acid acts by helping the body produce and maintain new cells. In particular, red blood cell formation is dependent upon adequate levels of this vitamin. Folic acid deficiency is a known cause of anemia in both adults and children. Folate may also help cells resist changes in their DNA associated with the development of cancer.

Iron (Ferrochel®):

Iron is an essential nutrient in human health, playing a role in immune function, cardiovascular health, and cognitive development.

According to the World Health Organization, 2 billion people – over 30% of the world’s population – are anemic, many suffering from iron deficiency anemia. As a result, iron supplements have been widely used in an attempt to raise ferritin levels to correct iron deficiency. However, inorganic iron supplements such as ferrous sulfate still have low bioavailability and typically produce undesirable side effects such as gastric upset and nausea.

There is a better alternative. The many unique attributes of Ferrochel (ferrous bisglycinate chelate) support its superior role as an iron supplement in humans.

  • Does not interact with other nutrients
  • Increased tolerance and absorption
  • Safer than typical iron salts
  • Supports overall health
  • Vegetarian friendly

In their ordinary form, minerals are difficult for the body to absorb through the intestine. Albion does the stomach’s work in advance by producing low molecular weight mineral compounds in which the minerals are bound to amino acids to produce natural organic chelates that can pass easily through the intestinal wall.

Vitamin B 12 (Cobalamin):

Vitamin B 12 is a vitamin. It can be found in foods such as meat, fish, and dairy products. It can also be made in a laboratory.

Vitamin B12 is used for treating and preventing vitamin B12 deficiency, a condition in which vitamin B12 levels in the blood are too low. It is also used to treat perniciousanemia, a serious type of anemia that is due to vitamin B12 deficiency and is found mostly in older people. For this purpose, people use either a supplement that is taken by mouth or a gel that is applied inside the nose.

Vitamin B12 is also used for memory loss; Alzheimer’s disease; boosting mood, energy, concentration and the immune system; and slowing aging. It is also used forheart disease, lowering high homocysteine levels (which may contribute to heartdisease), male infertility, diabetes, sleep disorders, depression, mental disorders, weak bones (osteoporosis), swollen tendons, AIDS, inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, allergies, a skin disease called vitiligo, preventing cervical and other cancers, and skin infections.

Ferroplus has 27 mg of elemental iron sourced from Ferrochel®, which is a Trademark of Albion Minerals USA and has 400 mcg of Folic acid to make the product an effective one for prenatal health.

Dosage: One capsule per day. Discuss with your health care provider if you need to increase daily dosage.
