Heart and Cardio Health:

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Many risk factors are associated with cardiovascular disease; most can be managed, but some cannot. The aging process and hereditary predisposition are risk factors that cannot be changed.

Most people with cardiovascular disease have elevated cholesterol levels. Low HDL cholesterol (good) and high LDL cholesterol (bad) are more specifically linked to cardiovascular disease.  The hardening of the arteries also called Atherosclerosis of the vessels that supply blood to the heart is the most common cause of heart attacks. High homocysteine levels have been linked to heart disease as an independent risk factor. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and the risk increases as blood pressure rises. Overweight individuals are more likely to have additional risk factors to heart disease also.

A diet high in fruit, vegetables and fiber and possibly fish appears protective against heart disease. Regular exercise is certainly helpful for both lean and obese individuals against cardiovascular disease.

Markovit supplements that support cardiovascular health are:

  • Fish Oil Omega Gold 1400:

1400 mg of Omega 3 are delivered in two easy to swallow softgels that are enteric coated to prevent the fishy burp. Product is tested at an internationally recognized independent lab for purity and safety. The fish oil is derived from wild harvested species caught of the North and South American waters.

  • Coenzyme Q10 – 100 mg: Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an antioxidant that is made in the human body. CoQ10 is needed for basic cell function. CoQ10 levels decrease with age and may be low in people with cancer, certain genetic disorders, diabetes, heart conditions, HIV/AIDS, muscular dystrophies, and Parkinson's disease. Some prescription drugs may also lower CoQ10 levels.CoQ10 in the body can be increased by taking CoQ10 supplements. There is some evidence to support the use of CoQ10 for high blood pressure and heart failure. It is recommended by several physicians that it is particularly helpful for those individuals who are on statin drugs

Turmeric-CurcuGin:                                                                                                          Curcumin has beneficial effects on several factors known to play a role in heart disease. It is touted as a compound that improves the function of the endothelium and is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant.
